The monkey has a troop. He knows every monkey in it. He knows whose grooming hand is gentle, whose is rough, whose nap spot is best left alone.
He is not collecting acquaintances. He is not reaching out to circle back. He has not built a personal brand.
We replaced the troop with a feed and called it connection. Then we wondered why we felt unwitnessed.
The baboon does not know a thousand baboons. He knows forty. He is known by forty. This turns out to be enough baboons.
