Monkey Lives

The monkey is not preparing to live. The monkey is not living a smaller version of his life until the bigger version begins. He is in the tree, and the tree is the life.

He eats. He moves. He naps. He looks at things. The looking is not a means to an end. The looking is the thing.

We taught ourselves that real life starts later, after the next thing, and the next thing, and the next. The langur does not believe this. The langur is busy living the only life he has, the way a langur does, which is fully, in the tree, in the moment.
