Monkey Doesn't Hurry

A monkey moves fast or slow, never late.

A monkey can move very fast. A monkey can also sit on a branch for three hours. The monkey is never late, because the monkey was never expected anywhere.

Lateness is a story we tell about a clock. The clock does not exist in the forest. The forest runs on light, on hunger, on the rustle of something that might be a snake.

We gave ourselves minutes and then became their tenants. Now we apologize to each other for the minutes we did not arrive in.

The spider monkey arrives. He is on time. He had nowhere else to be.
